It also really depends on people colouring technique. Some people have a really light touch, so there is no problem when they are using pens. Other people have a slightly heavier hand and they might find that their inks are bleeding through the page, or causing a shadow through the page. But I dont have anything against markers or pens at all. I have seen some amazing results from people who used pens with my books.
I can help you out with that! I have gone ahead and collected over twenty tutorials to make your coloring even better. They are a mixed grab bag of coloring gems, sorted by the type of art supplies used. That should help you narrow down your range of options, or see what potential other media hold.
To start, hold your pencil as you would if you were writing. There should be a little bit of space between your fingers and the pencil tip. As you color, you may notice your grip starting to tighten. This will end up causing you some pain in the long run, and you will notice your hand cramping up after a while. Remember to keep your grip controlled but relaxed - you may not be able to color as fast, but you will be able to last much longer without any cramps or sore fingers. In most cases, coloring is a marathon, not a sprint.
