I can help you out with that! I have gone ahead and collected over twenty tutorials to make your coloring even better. They are a mixed grab bag of coloring gems, sorted by the type of art supplies used. That should help you narrow down your range of options, or see what potential other media hold.
Personally, I prefer pencils. I will always use pencils over any other material for colouring, just because I love the fact that they are so versatile. I like that they are fine enough that you can work in lots of detail. "I love that you can blend colours into one another and get a new shade. Just from one green pencil, you can get 20 shades of that one colour, which you cant get so much with coloured markers or gel pens. For their versatility, pencils have always been my favourite, hands down.
Many colorists recommend coloring in small circles, and while this is a great method, its not the only way to achieve even colors. The important thing is to return to old pencil strokes and go over them again, but in a different direction. If you always color back-and-forth as you move your pencil across the page, you end up with a grainy, directional texture in your colors. This is noticeable on its own, but becomes especially glaring when two different areas with different directional textures meet up.
