The beautiful thing about coloring is that it can be as simple or as complicated as you want to make it. Either way, you can still come out with a great result. As a beginner, its best to initially focus on laying down even, consistent colors in your coloring books. You are work may appear basic colored without any fancy coloring techniques, but as you practice you will be able to incorporate more complex techniques and color combinations into your work. This guide will introduce you to a few practices and give you an opportunity to explore the technical aspects of coloring.
Nobody needs to resign themselves to being a one-trick pony. There is a lot more to coloring than just filling in spaces, if you want it to be more than that! In fact, there is a whole plethora of techniques you can learn and put to use right away, giving your colored art that special touch that sets it apart.
Personally, I prefer pencils. I will always use pencils over any other material for colouring, just because I love the fact that they are so versatile. I like that they are fine enough that you can work in lots of detail. "I love that you can blend colours into one another and get a new shade. Just from one green pencil, you can get 20 shades of that one colour, which you cant get so much with coloured markers or gel pens. For their versatility, pencils have always been my favourite, hands down.
